For the many who are looking for solace in Religion during these trying times, New York Democrat Governor Cuomo’s unsolicited remark about God was anything but comforting.

“God did not do that. Faith did not do that. Destiny did not do that,” he stressed. “A lot of pain and suffering did that.”

These were the words he used to express his feelings and opinion towards things getting better for New Yorkers as reports reveal that COVID-19 cases have plateaued. Millions of people have become unemployed, hundreds of thousands are ill, thousands have perished due to the COVID-19. People of faith all over the country have been cut off from their communities as a result of this pandemic.

Governor Cuomo’s comment was insensitive to the suffering of people of faith all of the Nation. His comment devalues people’s faith in what they believe God has done for them. Faith in something gives you hope for a better future and the will to continue on in spite of adversity. It was completely unnecessary for Governor Cuomo to diminishes individuals’ faith during a time when everyone could use hope.
