California’s Explicit Sex Education Outrages Parents
The new legislation that passed in 2015-2016, under Governor Jerry Brown AB-329 known as Pupil Instruction: Sexual Health Education will introduce K-12 students to LGBTQ theory in the classroom at all levels. Planned Parenthood is one of the major groups that are lobbying for this new sexual education program in California. They have even provided some materials for these new sexual education ideologies.
Under AB-329, California State Public School Districts are required to teach LGBTQ theory to K-12 students including information on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. AB-329 also bans California State Public School Districts from promoting religious doctrine or positions on gender identity in public schools. All 7-12th grade students would be required to receive comprehensive sex education in schools to create ” healthy attitudes” attitudes about body image, gender, sexual orientation, relationships, marriage, and family.
Dr. Michelle Cretella discusses the dangerous effects of childhood development issues related to gender identity. Dr. Cretella says that XY and XX are the biological binary norm for human sexual development not genetic markers of a disorder. Only 1 in 1500-1 in 2000 people are born intersex, which does not constitute a third sex. Intersex individuals are born with a diagnosed medical condition and are not transgender. Cretella says “that no one is born with gender identity and that gender identity is the awareness of one being male and female.” She further elaborates saying that gender identity begins in the womb and starts with an infant being able to distinguish between the mother’s and the father’s voices. By six months an infant can distinguish sexes based on face and voice alone. By 18 months an individual begins to develop self-awareness of one’s own sex and by 30 months the child will identify with a parent of the same sex.
Children will not understand that sex is constant until the age of 6-7 years old, which is approximately the age range for the average 2nd grader. At 18 months to 7 years old the healthy gender identity can be halted at this time if the child perceives that it is unsafe to identify as their biological sex or if they perceived that their biological sex is unloved at home. These issues can be treated with therapy and counseling. According to Cretella, for children that struggle with identifying with their biological sex, it is important that peers and adults reaffirm their biological sex. The key to treating gender-confused children is to affirm their biological sex but popular psychology does the opposite. Modern psychology in our schools is pushing for parents, educators, and peers to affirm the gender-confused child’s delusion or else they will kill themselves. There is no scientific research that backs up this position.
AB-329 introduces a comprehensive LGBTQ curriculum to students that are at the K-12 level. The student in grades K-6th are not fully capable of understanding the curriculum and will be detrimental to the natural sexual development of children. It also enforces psychological practices that ignore biology and proven psychological treatment.
