New York City sees an uptick in violent crime since the approval of slashing $1 billion from the NYPD budget. Mayor De Blasio and Speaker Corey Johnson both pushed the cut amid the Black Lives Matter riots. This cut comes after De Blasio’s decision to release felons from New York City prisons to “flatten the curve” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As riots went on, the City took a lenient approach to handle them, which prompted Governor Cuomo to speak against De Blasio’s lack of proper action calling it a “disgrace” and at one point threatened to remove the mayor from the seat.

This reckless decision-making resulted in a 130% increase in shootings in the city, a 30% increase in homicides, a 118% increase in burglaries, and a 51% increase in auto thefts. All while the NYPD reports 40,000 fewer arrests than last year.

NYPD Bureaus took to Twitter to express their disgust against the Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance’s lack of leadership:

Manhattan DA Cy Vance where are you? No show at any shooting scene!!! Our community is being attacked, there have been 24 people shot in the city in the past 24 hours….Where Are You!!

De Blasio has yet to comment on these numbers but instead painted the ground Thursday morning with other so called “activist”, pictured below:

The city is experiencing a crisis, New York City families are under siege by violent criminals. Fathers are gunned down in front of their young children, teenagers attacked on a daily basis, and fear spreads throughout the city.
