One with Israel Celebration 2019
The vibrant display of blue and white flags was waved as a sign of true pride for a nation that has continued to rise and shine in all its enduring strength and glory. Israel celebrated their annual parade on June 2, 2019, on the streets of the famed 5th avenue where thousands of people from all walks of life in N.Y.C joined in to see the parade. Many participants came from here and abroad, for all to see as they marched and sang to their cultural tunes. The theme for their 55th anniversary was “Only in Israel.” Marking the outstanding accomplishments that have come out of the Israeli people, some of which stated as follows: “Where barren deserts are transformed into flourishing fields, where diverse cultures produce a fusion of global cuisine, where pioneers build new frontiers in science and technology. Where water can be produced from thin air, where those with incurable diseases are cured. Wherein order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles”.
The Nation of Israel has not only defied the stark aggression of their rivals but has truly withstood great hardship such as the Holocaust as never-ending wars still threaten them. In spite, they have overcome such challenges and risen, while creating an astronomical mark as a microcosm world impact. Their incredible advancements have been seen in the areas of defense, biotechnology, medicine, computer technology, and more, leading to a substantial quality of life not only for Israelis but for all the nations of the world.
The delegation at this year’s march included UN ambassadors from Australia, Germany, Ukraine, Norway, Nigeria, and other countries. The Grand Marshall was Edward Mermelstein, president of ZAKA Search and Rescue USA. The meaning of Zaka a Hebrew word for Zihuy Korbanot Ason literally means: “Disaster Victim Identification. Zaka was founded in 1995 by Yehuda Meshi-Zahav. ZAKA is Israel’s dominant non-governmental rescue and recovery organization, with over 3,000 volunteers deployed around the country, on-call 24/7 to respond to any terror attack, disaster, or accident. There were also Political figures that joined in support of this year’s parade. A diplomatic delegation of the United Nations ambassadors and diplomats was present, with Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon. The ample delegation included UN ambassadors from Australia, Germany, Ukraine, Norway, Nigeria among other countries. The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York organized this year’s parade.
One of the most outstanding notables was the conserved culture and identity of the people of Israel. We may notice this in the grand amount of youth and children that shined in their moment as they marched and praised with simplicity and waved their flags in a most conservative and colorful manner.
