RNHA National Endorses Sunny Panyanouvong-Rubeck For North Carolina’s District Court Judge
RNHA National is proud to endorse Sunny Panyanouvong-Rubeck for District Court Judge in North Carolina. Sunny’s parents lived in Laos after the Secret War following the end of the Vietnam War. In 1980, barefoot they journeyed across the long and treacherous Mekong River.
They fled barefoot fleeing on the Mekong River, Sunny’s crying grew louder and louder. Her mother used pills to sedate her as she was concerned that nearby soldiers would hear their position. For the safety of their family, her mother did this until her aunt realized she had overdosed and submerged her in the Mekong River. Her parents risked their lives to give her a future and she has chosen to use that life in service for the American people.
She began her legal career at 19 when she began working for a small law firm as a receptionist answering telephones. Since then she has worked as a legal assistant for various law firms specializing in family law, insurance defense, civil law and estate, and probate. After interning for the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office she was hired in 2009 after passing the bar. She began working in misdemeanor cases and worked her way up to being the supervisor of the Felony Drug Unit. During her time here she advocated for drug treatment court and taught lawyers during defender conferences and training sessions.
She serves as a board member for both the Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center and for the Larry King Clubhouse. The Larry King Clubhouse provides childcare for children whose family members bring matters before the court and jurors. She serves as Vice-President of the Uptown Charlotte Republican Women’s Club. Sunny is a strict constitutionalist with a long history of serving the American people. For this reason, the Republican National Hispanic Assembly encourages everyone to vote for Sunny Panyanouvong-Rubeck for District Court Judge.
