RNHA-NY reaches out to Westchester County
The Republican National Hispanic Assembly has paved the way once again in Westchester County and this time joined two important events that took place on March 6, 2023. One head of a Victory Brunch for Congressman Mike Lawler – A freshman Representative for New York’s 17th congressional district, serving on the Financial Services and Foreign Affairs, his race became the focal point of the entire Nation and was cause to have gained his seat by great opposition giving way for a Majority in the House. Along with the Westchester County Women’s Republican Club and the Chairwoman of the Mt. Pleasant Republican Committee, Helen Keating, the event was a full house.
Our very own N.Y State Vice Chairman Paul Rodriguez, former candidate for N.Y State Comptroller, was one of the key speakers and highlighted the evident importance of the Hispanic vote across the State of New York. We also united forces with the Latino Strikeforce, as Darlene Brienza, their Top Producer shared her success on phone banking and outreach efforts throughout the State. The Latino vote has become a crucial part of the American electoral process, with 34.5 million eligible Latino voters in the United States, up almost 5 million since 2018, according to The Pew Research Center. The N.Y State Teen Republicans were present representing the youth and vowing to help grow the young voters in joining in on the growing movement.
On that evening, another event was held at Fortina’s Restaurant in Armonk, NY, and was met with a group of about 40 protesters holding signs in support of Medicare concerns, said to somehow have found out that the event would be hosting important leaders of the party. The rumor inside was said to be unfounded because such an agenda is said not to be in the plans of the Party.
The protestors did leave their place before the special guest arrived, then the moment we all waited for arrived and we were standing before the second most powerful man in the American Government, The Speaker of the House, Honorable Congressman Kevin McCarthy. As we remember he won this seat, challenged to 15 rounds of an extensive voting process, having felt the push, and pull off the Freedom Caucus members fighting to have their expectations met, within the establishment of Washington, D.C.
Congressman Mike Lawler introduced the 55th Speaker of the U.S., as he laid out the concerns and battle ahead to end the One-Party Rule in Washington, N.Y.C., and Albany, as the Country is headed in the wrong direction. He touched on topics such as the 40-year high inflation and the high cost of living, domestic production of energy, the surge in crime, the border crisis, drugs, and fentanyl affecting Americans, and fighting for a Parental Bill of Rights for their involvement in their children’s education. As promised, he said, the Speaker is focused on moving forward with those initiatives.
Eloquently, the Speaker addressed the community of constituents present and everyone was excited and grateful to share a room with the Speaker. I have a record of his speech, here are some of what he said:
“Now every battle is said to be won before it begins, the Dems want to talk on how they are going to win this seat back, this is going to be a legacy here, and we’re going to grow this majority the next time as well.
“We wanted a bigger majority, but they don’t give gavels in small, medium, and large; we have the same exact gavel no matter the size of the Majority.”
“On our first bill, we repealed the 87,000 IRS Agents.”
“We created for the first time a select committee on China.”
“We are holding this administration accountable; it’s been a long time.”
“We have created a select committee on Covid, the Democrats never had one hearing to know where Covid originated, even though millions of people across the world died from it, once we start, it is interesting how the information comes out, we want all the information declassified so this will never happen again.”
The last comment was epic as the night ended, he shared one of the 3 things he emphasized to President Joe Biden at the Oval Office in their recent meeting:
“Stop decriminalizing what is happening in America and keep our children safe again.”
